Digital download feature now available

In our most recent update to MyExhibition system the ability to allow customers to purchase digital copies of your images and download them after purchase has been released. This is a great way to not only increase the options available to your client base but also to allow the sale of stock images with minimal work involved

Coupled with this change we have also been working to continually improve our service and have made some upgrades that give a significant increase in the speed of serving up the pictures on your website.

The download option is not available by default to existing clients - if you would like to add this to your package please get in touch

Digital download option

This week will see the release of some new functionality to the MyExhibition system allowing digital delivery of photographs. Customers will be able to select a mix of prints and digital versions and on completion of their payment will be able to download high quality versions of the images.

Existing customers wishing to use this functionality please just get in touch and this can be activated, however due to the increased storage requirements the usual policy of unlimited photographs may no longer be valid for clients with large amounts of images.

This latest addition to our eCommerce solution is part of our continued effort to respond to the needs of our clients - working to make running your photography business easier and more profitable.

20k photograph milestone reached

Although MyExhibition has only been running for a few months the eCommerce platform is now hosting over 20,000 photographs for sale by our clients. This is a fantastic milestone and as we start to promote the software to an increasing number of photographers we are excited to see just how quickly this rises.

MyExhibition provides customers with an unlimited number of galleries and photographs for just £10/month (or save £20 paying yearly) - so you never have to worry about taking your galleries off sale or finding your costs increase as your business grows.

To take advantage of our 10 day trial or to sign up now please visit the site to find out more about our eCommerce solution for photographers

MyExhibition update: pricing groups

We have recently added a new feature to the MyExhibition administration system which allows the creation of pricing groups. These can be assigned to the various galleries on your website so you are no longer limited to charging the same rates to all customers.
What this means is that you can now
  • Charge a different rate for portrait sessions, weddings and commercial galleries
  • Discount individual client galleries (as a promotion, etc)
  • Offer completely different photograph sizes for different groups (for example adding canvas options to wedding or portrait galleries only)
  • Separate your lists by pricing group on the front-end of your website to show portraits, weddings, commercial galleries under different sections
This feature has added a great deal of additional flexibility to our eCommerce platform enabling our clients much greater control over their website.

Support site coming soon

We are currently working on a facelift of the main MyExhibition website - so over the next couple of days you will notice a much improved experience and a lot more information appearing on the main site.

One of the key areas under development is a dedicated support portal - which will contain a list of FAQ's and articles demonstrating the functionality of the eCommerce platform. Further down the line we will also be adding a feature request area with voting buttons so that our clients can help shape the future of the MyExhibition system - in the meantime please get in touch if you have any ideas for consideration.

301 Redirects and managing multiple domains

Exposing your website on multiple domains is a problem for many websites - having your content avaialble on www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com as well as other domains which you may be running can cause search engines to see your website as exposing duplicate content.

The solution to this is to ensure that all domains resolve to a single place - and perform a single 301 direct to this site.

When managing a lot of websites or especially when using some hosting providers this can cause configuration problems - as you either have to handle this in code or through setting up additional websites in IIS.

There is however a great tool available at http://easy301.com which makes this whole thing much easier - and best of all its a free service. If you experience these problems I would seriously recommend popping over and joining up - quick easy and no-frills - just the way I like things!

Blogging for SEO victory

As a photographer your website will contain a portfolio and some great images however this is not content which is a great aid to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) - what you need is unique and relevant content on your website.
A great deal of this can be achieved through a content management system allowing you to describe yourself, your business and what you do but it is very difficult to write keyword rich content whilst making it readable and informative to your clients.
Integrating a blog within your website can provide a great boost to SEO as it allows you to easily add relevant and unique content to your website. By simply describing what you are doing and where you are doing it coupled perhaps some reviews on hardware or venues you can start to grow the reputation of your website.
With this in mind we have now added blogging to the £10/month eCommerce photographer website solution offered by MyExhibition. Feel free to get in touch for a free trial.
